Patna, Nov 6 (UNI) Bhagwanpur village, a sleeping hamlet of Vaishali district, caught a unique glimpse on election morning when a voter, Kedar Yadav, arrived at his polling booth riding a buffalo to participate in the democratic exercise.
As voting began across 18 districts of Bihar, a scene from Bhagwanpur village captured the spirit of the day.
For Kedar, this was not a display of drama but a sense of responsibility. “It’s the festival of democracy,” he said with a smile. “Five years later, this chance has come again. I found no vehicle today, so I chose what I have, my buffalo. After all, I am a farmer.”
The narrow village lanes stirred with surprise and laughter as Kedar made his way to the booth. Locals halted their chores to catch a glimpse.
A group of women marching towards their booth, singing traditional folklore, said, “Today, first the vote, then the household work.” Many had left home without breakfast, sipping only tea before heading to the polling station.
At the polling center, Kedar dismounted and joined the queue. B Kedar said, “This is our right, our celebration. If we can work in the sun and rain for our fields, we can surely stand in line for our nation.”
For many, the image of the farmer atop his buffalo had become a symbol of resilience and the ordinary citizen’s deep faith in democracy.
Such scenes reminded everyone that democracy thrives not in grand speeches, but in the simple, determined acts of people like Kedar Yadav, who rode a buffalo and carried the weight of civic pride with him.
As it is, the polling in 121 assembly constituencies has been going on since morning across Bihar.
