Bolangir (Odisha), May11 (UNI) Countdown for the exit of the Biju Janata Dal government in Odisha has started and June 4 is its expiry date, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared here on Saturday.

Addressing an election campaign meeting in support of BJP candidates for both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Bolangir, Modi reiterated that an Odisha born Chief Minister of the BJP will take oath this time and that is "Modi’s guarantee".

He invited people to attend the oath-taking ceremony at Bhubaneswar on June 10 when the BJP CM will be sworn in.

Modi said the pride and culture of Odisha are in danger and the BJP will not allow the state to be mortgaged.

He asked the people to bid Chief Minister NaveenPatnaik a grand farewell by bursting firecrackers and beating of drums.

Patnaik, he said, is cut off from the ground reality and not connected with the people. He could not even understand the problem of the people and failed to understand the talent and potential of the people of the state.

The Prime Minister mocked Patnaik and asked people to quiz the Chief Minister, if by chance he campaigns in Kantabanji Assembly constituency, to name 10 villages of the constituency from which he is contesting besides his traditional Hinjili Assembly seat .

“I am sure that the Chief Minister will not be able to name ten villages of Kantabanji Assembly constituency," Modi said

Though Odisha is rich in natural resources but the people of the rich state are fighting poverty and even to this day it is one of the poorest state of the country, he added.

Holding the BJD government responsible for this sorry state of affairs, Modi asked people bid farewell to Patnaik and exercise their franchise in favour of the BJP candidates both for the Lok Sabha and Assembly seats so that a double -engine government is formed in the state.

Modi said 50 years of Odisha was lost as the Congress which ruled the state only exhibited poverty and did nothing for the development of the state. The BJD government also did not take any initiative to change it during its 25 years rule.

He said during the 25 years, the BJD leaders became richer with big bungalows and cars but the people remained poor.

The migration of people is continuing, he said and appealed to the people to give five years to the BJP promising to stop migration, and make Odisha number one state in the country

He came down heavily on the BJD government for betraying the farmers of the state by not giving MSP to them and providing irrigation to their land.

The farmers in Odisha are getting Rs 500 to 600 less than the Rs.2,100 MSP fixed in the state, Modi said and promised that the BJP government after coming to power, will raise the MSP of paddy to Rs 3,100 per quintal and abolish the katni and chatni system in the procurement of paddy.
