EAM calls on Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, PM Mahinda Rajapaksa

Colombo/New Delhi, March 28 (UNI) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday called on Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and also on Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and held discussions on the close bilateral relations. During his meeting with PM Mahinda, the two jointly witnessed the signing of an agreement on supporting Buddhist culture and heritage, as well as virtually inaugurated the Jaffna Cultural Centre. He later visited the HCL office in Colombo that was set up late last year and is providing employment. During his call on President Rajapaksa, the two reviewed different dimensions of the relations, and assured him of India's continued cooperation and understanding – in view of Sri Lanka's economic troubles. “Pleased to call on President @GotabayaR of Sri Lanka. “Reviewed various dimensions of our close neighbourly relationship. “Assured him of India's continued cooperation and understanding. During his meeting with PM Mahinda Rajapaksa, the two witnessed the signing of an agreement on supporting Buddhist culture and heritage, virtually toured an ongoing camp in Jaffna on fitting the Jaipur foot, and also virtually inaugurated the Jaffna cultural centre constructed by India. “Thank Prime Minister @PresRajapaksa for his gracious welcome. “Our discussions were followed by some notable events: 1. Witnessed the signing of agreement on supporting Buddhist culture and heritage. 2. Virtually toured an ongoing camp in Jaffna on fitting 'Jaipur Foot'. “3. Virtually inaugurated the Jaffna Cultural Centre constructed by India.” He later visited the HCL office in Colombo that was opened last year to provide employment to youth in Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan Youth Minister Namal Rajapaksa accompanied him on the visit. “Visited the @hcltech office development centre in Colombo.
