New Delhi, Jul 23 (UNI) union Minister Jitendra Singh on Thursday renewed the Narendra Modi government’s invitation to the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) to hold discussions at either former BJP president JP Nadda's residence or office. However, the CJP leadership at Jantar Mantar rejected the proposal, insisting that any meeting should take place at a “neutral venue” and produce a “concrete” outcome.

The CJP on Thursday also called for a nationwide protest on Friday (July 24), urging supporters, student unions and civil society groups to hold peaceful demonstrations across districts in solidarity with those it claims were victims of police brutality during recent protests.

Responding to the government’s assurances and invitations for talks over alleged paper leaks and the CJP's demands—the fourth such outreach, according to union Minister Jitendra Singh—CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka also said that if such talks are held, they would expect something “concrete” to emerge from it.

“We want to tell Jitendra Singh ji and JP Nadda ji that we are very busy people and don't have time for any ‘hawabaazi’. If you want to meet us, you will have to offer us something concrete. You are important people and we are small people, but the people of the country are standing behind us, and they have decided that the talks will not be held at Nadda ji's residence or office,” Ranka said addressing supporters at Jantar Mantar.

Ranka claimed that the government conveyed that “people are angry” and that it could not come to Jantar Mantar for the talks. “We said we are willing to meet at a neutral venue. Jitendra Singh ji is saying that we can either meet at Nadda ji's office or residence,” Ranka said, asking supporters gathered at the site whether they should accept the government's offer.

Supporters responded with an emphatic “No.”

“Wherever you want, we can discuss, either at Nadda ji's house or office,” Singh earlier said, adding that the government had already reached out to the party four times since Wednesday afternoon.

“This is a standing invitation to all our young friends that the government is ready for discussions on all issues at your convenience, at any time. Discussions can take place either at JP Nadda's office or residence. We do not stand on prestige. union Health Minister JP Nadda and I will be present for the discussions. Slowly, through dialogue, we will move towards a solution. This is part of the series of continuous steps taken by the government for the welfare of students. Humbly, I appeal to you all to come and hold discussions,” Singh said.
