Maha Assembly polls Average 32.18 percent till 1 pm

Mumbai, Nov 20 (UNI) Amidst long queues, an average 32.18 percent of the total 9.70 crore voters exercised their franchise for the single-phase Maharashtra Assembly polls in the six hours on Wednesday.
According to sources in Election Commission, till 1 pm an average 32.18 percent of the voters registered their choice across the 288 Assembly constituencies in the western Indian state. The polling, which began at 7 a.m., will continue till 6 p.m.
The highest 50.89 percent voting was registered in Gadchiroli district, while the lowest 27.73 percent was reported from the Mumbai City district.
Voters were seen patiently waiting in long queues since morning at different polling stations.
The poll process was delayed at different places in the state due to a technical snag, however, it was rectified later.
There are a total of 4,136 candidates in the fray for the 288-strong state assembly.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has appealed the people to cast their votes as early as possible to avoid rush at polling stations.
