Kochi, Dec 17 (UNI) Mahindra Tractors, India’s number one tractor brand and the world’s largest tractor manufacturer by volume, is scaling up to meet rising demand for its four-wheel-drive (4WD) tractor range, as farmers across the country increasingly adopt high-power, high-efficiency mechanisation solutions.
The surge in demand is being driven by higher agricultural and haulage activity and the growing use of specialised farm equipment in key states such as Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal.
Farmers are turning to 4WD tractors for improved traction, productivity and versatility across diverse operating conditions.
Mahindra offers one of the broadest portfolios of 4WD tractors in the 20–70 horsepower segment, across its Arjun, Novo, YuvoTech , Jivo and OJA series. Designed and developed in India, the tractors cater to both small and large farms and are engineered to perform reliably in varied soil types and challenging terrains.
Built with a rugged and muscular design, Mahindra’s 4WD tractors feature heavy-duty axles, larger tyres and higher ground clearance.
Optimal power transmission to all four wheels ensures superior grip on wet, uneven and hilly fields, while advanced engine technology delivers higher fuel efficiency, longer engine life and reduced wear and tear, helping farmers lower operating and maintenance costs.
The range also focuses on operator comfort and safety, offering improved ergonomics, advanced suspension systems and user-friendly controls.
These features enable better manoeuvrability, faster headland turns and efficient handling of heavy loads of up to 2–3 tonnes, while reducing fatigue and enhancing safety during long working hours.
Industry observers note that the adoption of 4WD tractors, a global farming trend, is steadily gaining momentum in India.
Greater awareness, supportive government policies and subsidy schemes are encouraging farmers to upgrade to 4WD technology that delivers higher long-term productivity.
Although 4WD tractors involve a higher initial investment compared to 2WD models, Mahindra says their durability, fuel efficiency and productivity advantages ensure better returns on investment over time.
Over the past decade, the company has significantly expanded its 4WD portfolio and continues to strengthen its presence with new products from its manufacturing facilities in Nagpur, Mumbai, Zaheerabad, Rudrapur, Rajkot and Jaipur.
Mahindra’s 4WD tractors are supported by an extensive nationwide dealer and service network, ensuring easy access to genuine spare parts, affordable maintenance and timely support. Farmers can also avail of round-the-clock assistance through Mahindra Tractor Service’s 24x7 toll-free helpline (1800 2100 700), including doorstep service to minimise downtime.
