Gangtok, Jul 30 (UNI) Tourist and civilian movement to Nathu La will remain suspended on August 1 and 15 due to Special Border Personnel Meetings (BPM) between India and China.
The advisory was issued by the 17 Mountain Division of the Indian Army on July 29, asking authorities to restrict civilian traffic on both days.
Nathu La Pass is a famous high-altitude mountain pass, an Indo-China border post, and an offshoot of the ancient Silk Road located in East Sikkim at the height of 4,310 metres.
It attracts hundreds of thousands of domestic visitors every year, with peak daily counts exceeding 6,000 tourists during busy holiday rushes. UNI MBN NST
