Jerusalem, Oct 23 (UNI) In his Wednesday meeting with US Vice President JD Vance in Jerusalem, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while expressing willingness to proceed with the implementation of the next phases of the ceasefire deal, also highlighted some red areas in the deal – which until addressed – hinder any further progress.
This includes Jerusalem's absolute opposition to any Turkish presence in the Gaza Strip, and a complete resistance to any involvement of either the Palestinian Authority or Hamas' involvement in the Strip's administration. He, further conditioned a full IDF retreat only after Hamas' complete disarmament, and the Strip's total demilitarisation, reports Channel 12.
Another key point of contention is Netanyahu's demands on the PA's non-inclusion in the Strip's administration, with Washinton forcing the Israeli PM to compromise on his stance, given that there are no viable alternatives for its governance.
Earlier, on Wednesday, Netanyahu had vowed that "there will be no Turkish involvement" in the planned International Stabilisation Force, which as per President Donald Trump's 20-point plan for Gaza, envisions the war-ravaged enclave's temporary security by a multi-national task force.
Amid its postwar transitional phase, that will include reconstruction, demilitarisation of the Strip, and a phased IDF withdrawal, along with the complete disarmament of Hamas terrorists.
Jerusalem, reportedly was also at odds with Egypt's intelligence chief, as Netanyahu disagreed over the Mukhabarat head's suggestions on Turkish involvement.
Netanyahu had also "completely rejected" the deployment of Palestinian Authority security forces trained by Egypt and Jordan in Gaza, in a reiteration of his stance against having the PA play any role in the enclave.
