New Delhi, Jan 23 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid tribute to freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary, commemorated as Parakram Diwas, recalling his "indomitable courage" and lasting influence on India's national spirit.

‎In a message shared on platform X on the occasion, PM Modi said Netaji epitomised fearless leadership and unwavering patriotism, adding that his ideals continue to inspire generations.

‎"On the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, which is commemorated as Parakram Diwas, we recall his indomitable courage, resolve and unparalleled contribution to the nation," the Prime Minister said. "He epitomised fearless leadership and unwavering patriotism. His ideals continue to inspire generations to build a strong India."

‎The Prime Minister also reflected on Netaji Bose's personal influence on his own public life, recalling a key moment from his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister. Modi noted that Netaji had inspired him greatly and referred to the launch of the e-Gram Vishwagram Yojana on January 23, 2009, a landmark initiative aimed at transforming Gujarat's information technology landscape.

‎"The e-Gram Vishwagram Yojana was a pioneering scheme aimed at transforming Gujarat's IT landscape," PM Modi said, highlighting that the programme was launched from Haripura, a place of historic significance in Netaji Bose's life.

‎Recalling the event, PM Modi said Haripura held a special emotional connection. "I will never forget the manner in which the people of Haripura welcomed me and organised a procession on the same road where Netaji Bose had travelled," he said.

‎Parakram Diwas is observed annually on January 23 to honour the legacy of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, one of India's most prominent freedom fighters and the founder of the Indian National Army (INA). The day is dedicated to remembering his role in India's struggle for independence and his vision of a strong, self-reliant nation.

‎The government has, in recent years, marked the occasion with events and initiatives aimed at educating younger generations about Netaji's life, leadership and contribution to the freedom movement, reinforcing his enduring relevance in contemporary India.
