PM Modi reaffirms commitment to 'ease of living' ahead of reforms

New Delhi, Dec 26 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday signaled a bold continuation of his administration’s policy agenda, asserting that the government remains steadfast in its mission to enhance the "Ease of Living" for every Indian citizen.
Responding to a summary of recent governance milestones, the Prime Minister emphasised that the progress made thus far is only the beginning of a more intensive reform trajectory.
His comments came in response to a detailed report highlighting how 2025 has served as a pivotal year for administrative shifts, with the focus moving away from bureaucratic complexity toward tangible outcomes that reduce "friction" in the daily lives of citizens and business owners alike.
"Ours is a Government committed to boosting ‘Ease of Living’. Our reform trajectory will continue with even more vigour in the coming times," Prime Minister Modi stated in a post on his X handle.
The government’s recent "Ease of Living" push has been anchored by several structural changes aimed at reducing the "stress" of governance.
These include overhauling complex tax laws to provide clearer guidelines and reduce the compliance burden on the middle class and SMEs, treating technical procedural lapses as civil matters rather than criminal offenses to foster a more trusting environment for entrepreneurs, leveraging technology to clear legal backlogs and streamline judicial processes, and consolidating archaic labour laws into modern codes designed to protect workers’ rights while allowing industries the flexibility to grow. The administration’s current philosophy centers on the idea that policy success should not be measured by the number of laws passed but by the reduction of daily hurdles for the public.
A spokesperson for MyGovIndia has noted that 2025 marked a "clear shift," where reforms were intentionally designed to be outcome-focused. By prioritising "Simpler laws and faster results," the government aims to create a more seamless interaction between the state and the individual.
Since 2014, the Modi administration has made "Minimum Government, Maximum Governance" a cornerstone of its platform. While early years focused on "Ease of Doing Business" to attract global investment, the current mandate has shifted heavily toward "Ease of Living." This includes the massive expansion of digital infrastructure (the India Stack), direct benefit transfers (DBT), and the saturation of basic amenities like piped water and electricity.
As the government looks toward the remainder of the decade, the Prime Minister’s promise of "even more vigour" suggests that further deregulation and digital integration are on the horizon.
