Panchkula, Sept 9 (UNI) The Railway Board now allows Zonal Railways to revise promotion panels when an employee is selected for multiple posts through simultaneous selection exercises. This measure aims to prevent vacancies caused by the same employee appearing on more than one panel. The Board outlined this issue in its instructions, RBE No. 68/2026, issued on August 21. In Railways, selections for different promotional posts occur simultaneously.

The eligible employee pool, known as "feeder categories," often overlaps, so the same employee may participate in multiple selection processes at once.

This situation creates a challenge: an employee may be selected for multiple posts but can accept only one. As a result, the left over post remains vacant, even if other eligible candidates participated in the selection and could have filled the position. For example, if an employee qualifies for both Post A and Post B but chooses Post A, the Post B panel will have a vacancy, even though other eligible candidates could have filled the role.

The Railway Board noted that it is not possible to determine in advance which post an employee will choose, making these shortfalls difficult to predict or prevent during the selection process.
