Time has gone when children used to play sitoliya (seven stones), blocks building, snake and ladder, among other games. These days kids are gadget-savvy and like to engage themselves digitally. Using tablets, iPad, mobiles, play station is very common amongst kids. Through attractive lights, sounds, or interactive gaming these digital gadgets or smart toys fascinate kids immensely. For keeping their children engaged, parents as well, allow children to use these digital gadgets and smart toys.

In today’s time pandemic has also created mayhem in everyone’s life. This worldwide pandemic has led to unprecedented circumstances. In this vein, children have been largely affected. Owing to the reopening of schools and unavailability of vaccines there is a strong possibility that the third wave would be harsher for kids and they can face severe issues. With all this, the li’l ones our children are forced to spend their time staying isolated at their homes only. Their learning has moved online. Education has changed significantly. With the rise of e-learning, whereby teaching is undertaken on digital platforms. But this virtual platform has given wide exposure to the young generation. Various education technology- enabled software, viz., BYJU’S, Whitehat Jr., and many more are offering great learning methodologies for children of different age brackets.

Online games and smart toys make kids addicted to screens and they spend too much time on screen. Besides mental health, it badly impacts their physical well-being as well. Without any physical activity sitting in one place puts children at risk of becoming obese. However, seeing with a creative eye, these kids are connecting their superheroes as goodie folks and marked coronavirus as the bad people who need to be defeated. This is somewhat funny but it’s their way to face this worst situation.

Additionally, instead of entirely stopping children to use these gadgets, we adults can limit and allocate the amount of time they spend digitally with smart toys gadgets, and on other board games. This way as a balanced development approach parents can help their children grow completely budging in all directions.

In the end, I would say that the virtual platform has taken our children a leap ahead and opened all the edges and avenues for them. From all over the world children are interacting virtually. This technology has created wonders in this uncertain time.
